Temple B’nai Israel, a 62 year old congregation located on the Maryland eastern shore in Easton, Maryland has selected Levin/Brown & Associates, Inc. as their synagogue architect. Since it was founded, Temple B’nai Israel has grown from 50 members to 200 and serves Kent, Queen Anne’s, Caroline, Talbot and Dorchester counties. Member families include both full time residents and those that call the eastern shore their second home while still leaving in nearby Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Baltimore.
Levin/Brown will work with the strategic planning committee to design the new synagogue facility that will include a flexible sanctuary suitable for typical Shabbat services accommodating 50 with the capability to expand to 150 for B’nai Mitzvah and up to 300 for High Holiday worship. The synagogue will also include administrative offices, a social hall to seat 150 plus dance floor, a kitchen, 3 multipurpose style classrooms and support spaces.
With assistance from Levin/Brown, Temple B’nai Israel is currently evaluating properties in the area that are suitable for development.
As a synagogue architect, Levin/Brown is especially excited about the opportunity to work on a project that combines the opportunity to create a design that responds to both the historic fabric of this 200 year old city in Maryland and its rural landscape composed of farm land and pristine woodlands.
